Sorting and Shipping Sorting Coffee is separated according to size for uniformity of the roast. At this time foreign objects such as rocks and twigs are removed from the beans. The coffee is cupped for flavor and graded accordingly. Shipping Once graded, the coffee is packed in heavy jute bags. The filled bags weigh between 135 and 152 pounds, depending on their origin. The bags are distinguished by their country of origin, estate and lot number. They are taken to port and shipped to the importing country where they will reach their buyer.
